Being immuno-compromised

Day 529.

Ever since I got diagnosed with sarcoidosis and started my treatment I have been waiting for a wave of colds and flus to get me down. I thought when I started Prednisone and Methotrexate that my immune system would immediately be shot. I was very careful.

As nothing much happened I relaxed my vigilance. I went to the office more. I started shopping more. I lived life a little more.

That is until I started taking Infliximab (aka Remicade).

I have noticed a definite increase in how susceptible I am to illnesses and infections since I have started Infliximab.

About a month ago I had pneumonia. After some anti-biotics it cleared up.

This morning I woke up with a fever. I phoned in sick to work, and tried to get some rest. When I tried to get out of bed I got really dizzy. So dizzy that I couldn't get up. This happened three or four times, and I was freaked out enough to phone an ambulance.

Fast forward to the hospital and I find out I have an infection that caused my blood pressure to drop. Some more anti-biotics is prescribed.

I am now going to try and limit my time working in the office and be more diligent with my mask wearing again. It is so frustrating!
